Changes to international travel rules for amber list countries
From 4am Monday 19 July you will not need to quarantine on arrival in England or take a day 8 COVID-19 test, as long as you:
· have been fully vaccinated under the UK vaccination programme
· have not been in a red list country or France in the 10 days before you arrive in England
Fully vaccinated means that you have had your final dose of an approved vaccine at least 14 days before the date you arrive in England. The day you have your final dose of the vaccine does not count as one of the 14 days.
You will still need to book a day 2 test to take when you arrive in England.
You will need to:
· declare that you have been fully vaccinated on your passenger locator form
· show proof of your vaccination status to your carrier (ferry, airline or train) when you travel
Use the NHS COVID Pass to show proof of your COVID-19 vaccination status.
Children under the age of 18, who are returning to the UK, and people taking part in formally approved COVID-19 vaccine clinical trials will also be exempt from requirements to quarantine and take the day 8 test.
France – important information
The changes to the amber list rule for fully UK vaccinated people will not apply to France. If you have been in France in the 10 days before you arrive in England, you must quarantine for 10 days on arrival in England and take day 2 and day 8 COVID-19 tests.
When you complete your passenger locator form you must choose ‘No / Prefer not to say’ when asked if you are exempt from the requirement to quarantine and take a day 8 test. This is under the section of the form titled ‘Your coronavirus (COVID-19) vaccination status’.
Fill in your passenger locator form
You must complete a passenger locator form online before you arrive in the UK. You must complete the form even if you are only transiting through the UK.
It’s free to submit the form.
You can submit the form any time in the 48 hours before you arrive in the UK.
You’ll need to show your form when you check in to travel or board your plane, train or ferry to the UK.
You’ll need to provide a negative coronavirus (COVID-19) test before you travel to the UK. The test must have been taken in the 3 days before your departure. The proof must be in English, French or Spanish.
